Grayslake Accident Today, Grayslake, Ill. — A 19-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Grayslake, authorities confirmed. The crash occurred this afternoon near the intersection of Washington Street and Atkinson Road.
According to police, the young driver was traveling eastbound on Washington Street in a Volkswagen when it collided with a Toyota SUV attempting to turn south onto Atkinson Road. After the impact, the Volkswagen left the roadway and struck a traffic light pole.
Emergency responders transported the 19-year-old to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The 86-year-old woman driving the Toyota sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized.
The Grayslake Police Department, with assistance from the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, is investigating the cause of the collision. No further details, including the identity of the deceased, have been released.
